Michael J. Crum President, Certified Financial Planner™
Michael J. Crum, M.A., CFP®, is the Founder and President of this fee-only multi-family office and financial planning firm located in Encino, California. His clients include entrepreneurs, celebrities, athletes, executives, professionals, and businesses – for each of whom he serves as the “quarterback” of a financial, professional and business management team.
Prior to developing his own business, Michael spent 20 years in the financial services industry, including ten years as the Director of Marketing & Sales for the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation’s (Freddie Mac’s) western region – with management responsibility covering 11 states and territories. He has extensive experience in litigation consulting, financial analysis, product line and profitability management, business structure and strategic planning, mortgage backed securities and structured financings and sales force training and motivation. For many years, he was a frequent speaker at seminars and conventions of the mortgage banking and thrift industries throughout the United States.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle and a Master of Arts in Gerontology from the Leonard Davis School of the University of Southern California, where he graduated with highest honors and was inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. After completing his undergraduate education in 1971, Michael was a commissioned officer in the USAF, serving as a rescue helicopter pilot throughout Alaska.
Michael and his wife Karen now live in Peoria, Arizona, where they can be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.
Matt Davis MBA, Certified Financial Planner™
Matt Davis, MBA, CFP®, joined FPG in 2011 as a Financial Planner. Matt brings a unique background and perspective to the firm due to his technical experience and career in developing financial planning and internet banking software. Matt graduated at the top of his class in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and started his career as a robotics engineer and instructor for NASA. Matt later became an Account Manager for General Electric (GE) advising Radiologists, Cardiologists and hospital networks on their diagnostic imaging needs such as CT and MRI scanners. These experiences taught him how to understand and explain complex topics, which has proven invaluable when communicating estate plans and investment strategies in plain English.
Matt earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from The UCLA Anderson School of Business and then began a successful Product Management career for Intuit (i.e. Quicken®, QuickBooks®, TurboTax®) developing financial planning, internet banking and bill payment software programs. Matt also spent time developing cloud computing products for Amazon. These experiences allow him to ensure that clients are exposed to the latest technologies to help save time, track progress and make the best decisions in service to their financial goals.
Matt is also extremely passionate about comprehensive financial planning. Matt left a corporate career because he loves sitting down with people, understanding their needs and helping them transform their finances. Matt is a Certified Financial Planner™ certificant, achieving the highest requirements in the industry in terms of ethics, education, and experience. In addition, Matt has recently become a Professional Fiduciary.
Matt lives in Encino with his wife Jessamyn and their two children Jack (13-yrs old) and Layla (10-yrs old). In his free time, Matt is an active dad, avid runner and rabid University of Texas Longhorn fan.
Marisa Jenkins Registered Paraplanner™, Certified Public Bookkeeper™, Certified Quickbooks® ProAdvisor
Marisa Jenkins began working for FPG in 1999 after graduating with a BA in Communication Disorders from Biola University in La Mirada, California. As the firm’s bookkeeper, receptionist, and secretary-at-large, she has continued to hone her skills by achieving certifications as a Registered Paraplanner™ from the College for Financial Planning®, and a Certified Public Bookkeeper™ from the National Association for Certified Public Bookkeepers.
In 2006, Marisa relocated to Arizona where she continues to work remotely for FPG from her home office. Many long-time clients are surprised to discover that the friendly voice answering the phone and transferring their calls resides in another state.
Marisa and her husband, Kevin, live with their young son, Logan, just outside of Phoenix. In her free time, Marisa enjoys reading, volunteering for their local church, and is working on her PhD in Practical Theology.
